Dr. Rujing Stacy HUANG was elected Co-Chair of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) Sound Studies Section for the 2022-2024 term. As a singer-songwriter, her debut single “Dear Days” — commissioned by NetEase Cloud Music as a regional exclusive — entered the DSP’s Official Top 30 Folk Song Chart and Top 100 Hong Kong Folk-Pop Chart in January 2023. She is also co-organizing the fourth edition of the AI Song Contest.

Dr. Youn KIM’s monograph Body and Force in Music: Metaphoric Constructions in Music Psychology is published a part of the SEMPRE Studies in the Psychology of Music series. The book investigates the complex and multidisciplinary discursive space of the emerging field of music psychology in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Angus Lee (PhD composition & Assistant Lecturer), Chasing Waterfalls (an artificial intelligence opera in 7 scenes), co-created with the Berlin-based sound artist collective kling klang klong and commissioned by phase7 performing.arts Berlin, premiered at Semperoper Dresden, Germany. The work will also tour to Hong Kong in November as part of Hong Kong New Vision Arts Festival 2022. Lee is leading the performances as conductor on both occasions.
