Performances in the HKU Concert Series are presented by the Department of Music alone, or in collaboration with internal or external bodies. Notable international artists in recent years include the Academy-award-winning composer Tan Dun, Nieuw Ensemble from the Netherlands, folk/jazz group Beefolk from Austria, Han Tang Yuefu from Taiwan, Grainger Quartet from Australia, contemporary music group Het Collectief from Belgium, violinist Mengla Huang from China, the Song Company from Australia, percussionist Kuniko Kato from Japan, Silver-Garburg Piano Duo from Israel, and minimalist master Steve Reich from the United States.
