With the majority of its facilities located within the Hung Hing Ying Building, students have easy to the Music Library, computer lab, electronic music studio, musical instrument collection, and seminar rooms. Students and staff frequently interact in the common area of the Hung Hing Ying Building, where a seating area provides a relaxed environment for the discussion of projects, research, or musical activities.

Music students have access to practice rooms in an adjacent building, as well as a large rehearsal room in the Main Building, where they can participate in orchestral, chamber, or choir rehearsals. This room also houses the gamelan gong kebyar, and numerous instruments from various cultures.

Students have access to a wide range of performance venues on campus, including Loke Yew Hall, University Museum and Art Gallery, Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre Theatre, Rayson Huang Theatre, Global Lounge, and Sun Yat-sen Place. Whether performing or listening to concerts, these venues offer students both formal and relaxed environments in which to pursue their interest in music.

The HKU Libraries support an extensive database of electronic resources, as well as an excellent interlibrary-loan system. With outstanding facilities and resources at hand, students in the Department of Music have the opportunity to excel in their studies.
